Jonathan the Juggler Extraordinaire

If you live in Richmond, you've seen him a few times, come close to seeing him, or at least heard the legend of him.  He's as Richmond as Monument Avenue.  He is Jonathan the Juggler, and no local festival is complete without his antics.  And thank God he showed up at our neighborhood Monster Mash last night.  My friend Denise and I volunteered to organize the bash in a fit of sheer insanity last summer, spurred on by a couple of glasses of wine too many.  It seemed like a great idea at the time, but then again so did streaking and robbing a bank.

When Jonathan arrived with his trusty unicycle in tow, our 52 cherubs were busy shoveling in their pizza and downing a cupcake or two (or three) topped with way too much frosting.  As they finished and all hell was about to break loose, Jonathan did not succumb the temptation to hop on that unicycle and head for the border of Chesterfield County as fast as his legs could peddle.  No sirreee!  Instead he gallantly stepped in, created a stage, and placed himself upon it -- all while smiling.  God bess him!

What better way to pass the time with lots of spook-a-licious kiddos on a sugar high?  This man could give Super Nanny a run for her money.  The little goblins were enraptured, amazed, and mesmerized like I've never seen.  Oh, and they were quiet and focused, too.  Did I neglect to mention that?  It must be magic.  What else could explain it?  Please excuse the lack of pictures.  I guess I was mesmerized, too.  It is not often that you see a man balance a bicycle on his chin without winning a Darwin Award.
