Don't get me wrong -- that's OK by me. Saturday morning we had the Short Pump Mall all to ourselves without much of a wait for our first highly anticipated train ride of the season. We even got to sit in the little red caboose, a coveted open-air spot. Jackpot! Then we were the first and only people in line at Chick Delay as the Saminator calls it, so there was no reason to call it Chick Delay at all. Next we had our run of the toy store where we discovered that the owner really is in fact a friendly woman with a great sense of humor when not overrun by screaming, clamoring children vandalizing her wares. It wasn't Daytona or anything, but it's was still pretty good for spring breakin' at the mall a few miles from home.
Today was the flip side. I was definitely up for a workout and a break, but not necessarily in that order. So we headed over to the Y for some multitasking, and Sam was all pumped up to play in the nursery. As we walked in there, screams wafted out and bright pink faces stained with tears greeted us. And there were LOTS of those faces scattered around the room, and Sam joined right in. Apparently all the spring break mommies still in town needed a break at the same time, so the place was besieged with kids. Never mind. We then resorted to Plan B -- the library next door. We lucked out and found a fireman video with four episodes for Sam which translated into a break for me when we got home. Mission accomplished, and it even gets better from here. There are three more episodes to go, which are even better to me than a walk on the beach right now.
