Will It Snow Or Will It Go?

Alas, we have had no snow all winter long.  Wait, I take that back -- there was a little bit last Saturday afternoon, but we were inside a museum for two hours and missed the minor miracle.  Oopsy!  But now there is word of some real honest-to-goodness SNOW falling tomorrow, accumulating between 2-4 inches.  Whoa, Nelly!

What a shame that school is already cancelled Monday for Presidents Day, a potentially good snow day for the kiddos lost.  It's worth it, though, because where would we be without George Washington or his birthday?  I bet we'd have British or, even worse, German accents.

Anyway I digress.  What is winter without at least one decadent snow day?  What bigger feeling of elation is out there for a kid?  I still remember missing at least one full week of school and then some after the Blizzard of '76 back in the day.  (By the way that '76' is referring to 1976, not 1776, for any of you young'uns out there wondering.)  I'm surprised Alice Cooper didn't come out with "School's Out for Winter."

It's hard to imagine snow falling tomorrow when it hit a balmy 60 degrees today, but you can't put anything past ole Mother Nature.  So bring it on, show us who's boss!  We aren't even asking to have school cancelled on Tuesday, just a little winter wonderland so the kids can make use of the snow pants and boots we stocked up on last November.

"Sleigh bells ring
Are you listening?
In the lane snow is glistening
What a beautiful sight
We're happy tonight
Walking in a Winter Wonderland"

Or maybe not...  Stay tuned!
