Back in the 70s, I know James Taylor really had Carolina on his mind. However, there's always room for a new millenium version, especially when it involves the towering Rockies. Right now we're in Denver, known as the Mile High City, presumably because it's a mile high. (I'm quick like that.) It has all been quite nice here even though all we've seen so far is our Residence Inn by the airport. Of course we can also see Applebee's, Uno's, Outback from our very window which Sam declared to be a "really good view-- you get to see rooftops AND parking lots." It is all in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.
Next stop -- the Lego store! I know it's more than a little insane to fly out West to go to a Lego store. In our defense, it actually is more of a happy accident since we were already planning on coming out here - really. Sam has had a Lego gift card burning a hole in his pocket for a whole week now since his birthday, so it actually saves us a trip to the traffic-choked Potomac Thrills. So, hey, it's sort of an errand to check off. Productive on vacation, a bonus!
Fast forward a couple of hours. After also browsing around Eddie Bauer, we have now emerged from the outlet mall called "Colorado Mills." I guess it has the same owner as Potomac Mills. (Another quick deduction.) It's noon on Saturday. It sure was pretty dang empty in there. I guess people in Colorado are truly outdoorsy and not just faux-outdoorsy like us. On the bright side -- at least the mall had an outdoorsy feel to it.
Next stop - the Continental Divide! Can you imagine Lewis and Clark's reactions when they stumbled upon across this? This is lovely Loveland Pass.
And just to prove that we really were there...
Sam had a great time hiking around wearing his Burger King crown. Go for it! It's vacation!
Next stop - Breckenridge!
Perhaps he will upgrade his crown for some Western wear... Stay tuned!
