The "Newseum," Where the News Is News

Have you ever been to the Newseum?  It's on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC, right by the Mall.  I hadn't until yesterday.  While it was embarrassing to admit I hadn't, now I don't have to be embarrassed anymore because I finally went!  Woo hoo!  Anyway, if you need any encouragement whatsoever, GO!  It was an AMAZING place!  There were so many interesting and unique exhibits that you could easily spend an entire day there, unless your head happens to explode from all that information first!  WOW!  A ticket is good for two consecutive days, so you can come back the next day for more!  Even better, kids are FREE all summer with a paying adult!

It is a fantastic place to go with kids or without them.  To the Newseum's credit there aren't many places that fit into that category!  For kids it is incredibly interactive -- lots of fun video quizzes and clips, a camera area where kids can stand up and be a television anchor, and there's even part of the Berlin Wall to touch!  The exhibit of Pulitzer Prize winning photos is fascinating.  Each of those photos can definitely say lots more than 1,000 words!

The 9/11 exhibit was really moving with a mangled broadcast  antenna from one of the towers.  Don't miss the 15-minute video consisting of interviews with the reporters who covered 9/11.  Their stories were incredible as they described how they felt while interviewing so many traumatized dust-covered people.  They were sobbing themselves.

And there's so much more -- an entertaining 4D movie, the history of journalism with original books and documents (even the Magna Carta), a JFK exhibit, gift shops, and a nice cafeteria.  I must be forgetting something!  Ah yes, the stellar balcony of balconies....

So if you get the chance, get thee to the Newseum!  It'll be like Mikey trying his Life cereal,
 "He likes it!  Hey, Mikey!"
