The sugar snap peas have taken on a life of their own -- literally. Man, those things grow unlike anything other! At my farmer friend Denise's suggestion, I went out and got a few small wooden trellises so the peas can grow up and wind around them. It's all pretty wild that they are actually doing what they are supposed to be doing.
The yellow green beans have popped up dramatically, looking like something bizarrely prehistoric. (Somehow they remind me of dinosaurs.) Can't complain; that was one was one of the few plants with 100% yield on seeds planted. Whoa, baby! This is FUN! I had no idea how exciting it can be to check on plants a couple of times a day and see what is going on in their little world. Often it is much more fascinating than what is going on in our big world. There's some food for thought, huh?
Here are some tomatoes that I need to replant soon in the ground and hope they survive the move. If not, thanks for trying, baby tomato plants!
Here are some beets below. Check out their "beet red" stems!
Even Sam's little "bachelor buttons" flowers that we planted over spring break are busting out.
Next stop -- composting? Hey, you just never know!
