Our Resident Senior Citizen

Alas, Louise is no spring chicken anymore.  She's more like a grandma kitty these days -- without the grand-kitties of course.  According to rough calculations, she's having her "Sweet 16" this year.  Unfortunately in cat years she is definitely geriatric.

Just a few days ago I was buying her food and came to the grim realization that she clearly qualifies for the "Senior Plus" version for those especially "mature" kitties over age 11.   Poor Louise.  It's so much more fun to be immature.  I bet it's the cat equivalent of nursing home food with lots of extra hairball prevention stuff added.  No wonder she has started begging for kitty treats all over the house now, not just the usual shakedown by the kitchen pantry.  Can't blame her -- health food can be highly overrated.  And no AARP (AARC?) card benefits either.

There are benefits to aging, like sleeping even more if that is possible.  Besides begging, now her only waking moments are spent lumbering to a new nap location.  Every day she valiantly tries to cram 36 hours of sleep into a 24 hour period which is demanding.  Every once in a while, though, a girl has got to stay awake long enough to get cleaned up.  Bath time meets spring cleaning!  With no Jean Nate or Bath & Body Works products in sight, she is left to her own devices.

First she needs to limber up her tongue, and then she's ready out of the gate!

It's her own built-in loofah sponge.

OK, time to get started.

The warm up -- shoulders.

And the full-on, complete with stuffed turkey impersonation at the end!  Bravo!

That was exhausting.  Now it's time to get back to her regularly scheduled nap.
